Hope ... Esperanza
Global Travel Alliance is proud to present Esperanza, a program allowing your to help a sister school in Costa Rica with their pressing needs. One school that we are happy to help is the Mario Aguero Gonzalez school near Buena Vista, Costa Rica. This K-12 school serves the impoverished children of local coffee plantation workers. The sister school program provides your school with a short and long term partnerships and travel opportunities. Whether it be your science, language or social studies programs, Esperanza gives your school a unique
connection to its sister school. |

Mario Aguero Gonzalez School
Escuela Mario Aguero Gonzalez serves around 100 students each year. While education is free in Costa Rica, many schools are not completely funded by the government. Often, the school is forced to require families to pay fees to make up the difference. Making limited funds stretch and maintaining the buildings is a huge challenge. Our first
project is to help fund the building of an English classroom. With Costa Rica’s tourism-based economy, learning English is a vital skill giving students access to many jobs in this
sector.

The Students
Mario Aguero Gonzalez is a coed public school serving the needs of students from impoverished families. Even the small fees the families face can halt the education of a
student. A 10 month academic year begins in February and ends in November. The students attend school in shifts with younger children in the morning and older students in the afternoon. Your group’s participation can be the catalyst that makes continued education possible for these students.

The Partnership
Each partnership ends in a trip to Costa Rica to see what the
partnership has enabled. Along the way, there is
communication between your students and theirs. This a great opportunity to become the sister school for a year and at the end, meet the people you have helped. Pen Pal and facebook communication along they way gives your
students unique learning opportunities. Projects this year include; building an English classroom, repair of the dinning hall and replacing the roof of the school’s kitchen.
