The Global Journey

The Mission Experiences

Costa Rica
Once labeled the “Switzerland of Central America,” Costa Rica is one of the most stable countries of the region and one of the most beautiful.  From the lush rain forests, to one of the world’s most active volcanoes, to beautiful white sand beaches, this country is unparalleled for its natural beauty.  Yet in the midst of this paradise, significant issues need addressing.  Poverty and lack of education still persist, especially in the rural areas. The average family income in Costa Rica is still under $4000 per year. Since World War II over 80% of the rain forest has disappeared to make room for more cattle grazing and farm land.  The evangelical church, though dynamic and growing, is still small, and is looking for Christians from other countries to come along side and work with them in advancing the kingdom.  More than a trip, this will be a perfect place for your group to not only be exposed to such diverse issues as the deforestation of the rain forest but to have an impact in making a difference. Oh . . . and you will have the time of your life!

Ciudad Juarez, Mexico
From the moment your group steps across the Mexican border, they will experience the huge disparity between our culture and theirs, from the vast differences in the standards of living to what’s really important in life. Juarez is the fourth largest city in Mexico with over two and a half million people in this sprawling city, which borders El Paso. Poverty is pervasive here and is even more noticeable with the United States only a glance away.  More than a trip, this adventure will be an ideal place for your group to struggle with becoming culturally sensitive, developing authentic relationships with others different than themselves, and seeing how they can make a significant impact in the life of someone else, even through the smallest acts of service.  Your group will team up with a vibrant local church in Juarez who is seeking to make a difference in not only their immediate city, but all across the state of Chihuahua.

Crow Indian Reservation
Located in the heart of the American West, the Crow Indian Reservation is the location of one of the richest coal deposits in the U.S., valued at an estimated 23 billion dollars.  And yet, in spite of the wealth of the land, the Native American population living there struggles with major problems of depression, unemployment, poverty, and substance abuse. Sixty percent live below the national poverty line. When your group steps into this culture, you will find a people rich with tradition and history, with a strong commitment to the family and the tribe. More than a trip, this experience will offer your group a great chance to come along side their Native brothers and sisters in Christ, and in the context of a wide range of service and evangelistic opportunities, experience God and Kingdom work in ways that will widen and deepen their own Christian journey.
