Day 1: Unique to this trip, your group will have the choice of being housed in a dorm like setting at the church in Juarez or staying in homes with different church families. The first day is spent with the local ministry team helping your group with cultural issues and spending time with your Mexican peers. A tour of the area is also included and orientation given for the upcoming days of service.
Day 2-5: The specific details of these ministry days are very dependent on other factors, such as the church’s calendar and the type of ministry the group is looking for. Typically these days break down into three levels:
Level 1: practical service project. There is always much to be done here, from basic home construction projects, to assisting one of the local or outlying region churches in their efforts to improve the quality of their community.
Level 2: children/youth ministry. Vacation Bible School, Kid’s clubs, community outreaches are typical of this level which allows your teens to use their gifts in ministering to others near their own age. Your group doesn’t need to have a lot of talent, just willing hearts to use what they have in serving others and bringing the good news of Jesus Christ.
Level 3: a cross cultural youth gathering. This is a much more in depth relationship building time with other teens in Juarez, encouraging each other, serving together in an intense ministry setting that involves evangelism or disciple building.
Day 6: cultural immersion day. On this final day your group experiences the local culture of Juarez, a joint recreational outing with their Mexican brothers and sisters in Christ. Shopping, enjoying local cuisine, make this last day a great way to finish up this trip.
