Costa Rica - Sample 8 Day Itinerary

Includes working with a local church in Alajuela

Sample Itinerary:

Day 1
Arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica and check into the hotel. After orientation meeting, explore the area around the Poas Volcano if there is time.

Days 2-6
These are days for exciting ministry and evangelism! Y ou will work with a local church in the hills of Alajuela, just outside of San Jose. Time will be spent doing community outreach to children and youth, along with construction work on a new church building. Some exciting things are going on in this church’s outreach to the community, and you’ll be able to make a significant contribution ... learning how to share the Gospel in a cross-cultural setting!

In the evenings and late afternoons, there are various outdoor activities available, from zip lining through the rainforest, to horseback riding, and much more. We will even take an overnight trip to the region around Mt. Arenal, one of the world’s most active volcanoes! (Some activities additional cost.)

Day 7
Full day of outdoor adventure. Wake up early for a full day of white water rafting on the Pacuare, a challenging river through the rain forest where we will see abundant wildlife. The Pacuare is rated by National Geographic as one of the top five most scenic raftable rivers of the world. This will be a day to remember!

Day 8
Depart for home after seven incredible days!

This itinerary is intended to be a tentative guideline for this trip. Activities may be moved around due to timing, weather and other unforeseeable circumstances.

Trip Focus:
In addition to the ministry projects, regular devotions and group discussions will integrate the days’ ministry and sightseeing activities with Biblical principles of service and leadership. All travelers will be impacted in the following ways:

1) Develop a broader global perspective and increased cross-cultural understanding.
2) Learn how their own gifts and talents can be used effectively to share the Gospel in both word and deed.
3) Come to better understand principles of effective Christian leadership, including having “a servant’s heart”.
4) Have an opportunity to consider a life-long calling to overseas ministry.
5) Grow close to Costa Rican people and mission team members.
