Let the Nations Be Glad!: The Supremacy of God in Missions 2nd Edition (Grand Rapids: Baker Book House, 2001) A sound theological foundation for missions, but much more than that - an impassioned devotional call to be either senders and goers.

A Mind for Missions: Ten Ways to Build Your World Vision. Paul Borthwick (Colorado Springs: Navpress 1987) How to develop into a "world Christian" and encourage interest in missions in your family and congregation.

Eternity in Their Hearts. Don Richardson (Regal Books 1984) A study of the way God has prepared every culture for the Gospel. Don Richardson takes his experience in New Guinea (Peace Child) as a missionary where he discovered a cultural hinge to use in explaining the Gospel and shows how every culture has an historical connection with the Gospel.

Biographies of Missionaries

Hudson Taylor’s Spiritual Secret (Chicago: Moody Press, 1989 also available for download free at http://www.ccel.org/t/taylor_jh/secret/home.html)– tells how Taylor prepared himself to trust God in China and how God used him.

Through Gates of Splendor Elizabeth Elliott – The story of Nate Saint, Roger Youderian, Ed McCully, Pete Fleming and Jim Elliot’s attempts to reach the Waorani Tribe in the jungles of Ecuador.

The Heavenly Man Paul Hattaway (Monarch Books, 2003) writes the story of Brother Yun’s development of China’s house church movement and the persecution he experienced.


Student Preparation

Operation World Patrick Johnstone, Jason Mandryk, Robyn Johnstone. (Gabriel Resources; 21st edition, September 2001). The prayer guide for world missions that covers each nation with prayer challenges, mission work in country, needs. Great to use to gather information on your country for the team.
