Paris, Normandy, and Brittany - 8 Days
Day 1
Journey to Europe. Board your overnight flight and arrive in Paris on the following morning. Your Global Travel Alliance tour guide will meet you upon arrival in Paris.
Day 2
After checking into our hotel we will visit the historic Notre Dame cathedral. Opt to climb to the top of the tower and explore the Parisian Archaeological Crypts. After our visit inside the cathedral we will visit the Square Jean XXIII and the Jewish Deportation Memorial.
In the afternoon tour the Latin Quarter and the Boulevard Saint Michel. Free time for shopping and visiting the Pantheon or a stroll through the Luxembourg Gardens.
Day 3
Today we will visit Place de la Concorde and have lunch on the Avenue des Champs Elysees – the “triumphal way”. Later we will view Napoleon’s Arc de Triomphe and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Afternoon tour of the Louvre and the Jardin des Tuileries. Spend the afternoon exploring this vast collection including the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo and many other astounding works of art.
Day 4
In the morning we will head to the top of the Eiffel Tower for a panoramic view of the ‘City of Love’. Free time exploring the Tower and the youthful Trocadero.
In the afternoon we will visit the Neo-Romanesque Sacre Couer cathedral and view Paris from above. Free time to mingle with the artists in the Montmartre.
Day 5
In the morning we will travel to the breath-taking Normandy district of France. Along the way we will stop in Rouen, know for its Gothic cathedral and numerous spires around the city.
In Rouen, we will also visit the place du Vieux Marche, the site where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431 for heresy. In the afternoon we will travel to Caen and tour the WW II Memorial Museum to see the impact of WWII.
Day 6
In the morning we will visit Omaha Beach and travel along the D-Day beaches. We will also visit the U.S. Cemetery before heading west to the medieval center of Brittany. Along the way we will stop and visit Mont St. Michel and view the massive abbey anchored at the summit of a rocky island. Continue on to Dinan where we will take an evening walking tour along the ramparts of this ancient walled city.
Day 7
Today we will visit St. Malo, a former pirate outpost and major stronghold in WW II. Explore St. Malo by foot, taking in the fortress walls and nearby beach. Excellent shopping and sight-seeing abounds! In the afternoon we will head back to Paris, stopping at notable sites along the way. In the evening enjoy free time for shopping or sight-seeing.
Day 8
After seven unforgettable days, return home from Paris!
