ST. AUGUSTINE

Castillo de San Marcos Fort - Enjoy over 300 years of history as you visit the oldest masonry fort and the best-preserved example of a Spanish colonial fortification in the United States.
Pirate-led Treasure Hunt - For many of our groups, this is the highlight of their trip! Your school will be
recruited by a pirate on a quest to find buried treasure. A series of clues lead your students to different locations throughout the historic downtown area. Once the treasure is found, each participant receives a replica gold Spanish Doubloon. This interactive tour promotes fun and learning!
Old Florida Museum - The hands-on experiences presented at the Museum are specially designed to enhance students’ understanding of history. Choose from the following programs:
Florida Indian Program: Enter a life-sized reproduction of a Timucua Indian hut and experience what life was like in Pre-European Florida. This time period features daily living skills such as canoe making and corn grinding. Test your skill with a primitive bow drill and enjoy Native American games. Students will create a piece of Native American jewelry.
Spanish Program: Students will learn what life was like in Spanish Colonial Florida as they visit the replica of an early Spanish settlement. Activities include rope making, weaving and candle dipping. Work with a pump drill or enjoy a game of Ninepins to make your stay a memorable one.
“Florida Cracker” Pioneer Program: Explore Florida’s territorial period where the “Florida Cracker” lifestyle was born. Students will thoroughly enjoy this interactive adventure into the past. Exercise your mind in the one room schoolhouse and then exercise your body by practicing your roping skills! Relive everyday life from pioneer times by grinding sugar cane, milling corn, washing clothes on washboards, working the push plow, or drawing water from a pitcher pump well.
Florida Archeology Program: Students will learn about the field of archeology - what it is, how archaeologists work, and how we can learn about the past through what they find. Students will have the chance to use their newly acquired knowledge to participate in a mock dig to find and catalogue artifacts of their own.
