Germany, Czech Republic, and Austria - 10 Days
Day 1
Depart for Europe !
Day 2
Your tour guide will meet you at the Frankfurt airport. Board the bus and begin our travel down the Romantic Road to Rothenburg, arriving in late morning. After lunch, spend time touring and shopping in Rothenburg, Germany’s best medieval-walled town. Climb the walls for some incredible views, visit the medieval torture museum, and listen to the stories of the Town Crier late in the evening.
Day 3
Depart for Prague and explore the Czech capital. Visit St. Vitus Cathedral, Old Town, and Wenceslas Square. In the evening you will have time to shop and visit the Charles Bridge. You’ll love this city!
Day 4
Today we will explore Hradcany Castle and the National Museum. In the evening we will walk along the river banks and explore the historic old Prague.
Day 5
Transfer to Vienna, Austria, stopping along the way through the Czech Republic. Arrive in Vienna and check into our hotel. Evening walking tour in the Austrian imperial city.
Day 6
This morning we will take a guided tour of the Schonbrunn Palace. In the afternoon we will take a walking tour of Vienna. Afternoon optional activities include the Museum of Fine Arts and Beethoven and Mozart’s homes.
Day 7
After breakfast we will enjoy a scenic ride through the Alps as we make our way to the beautiful city of Salzburg, Austria. Enjoy a walking tour of the city and shopping in the area that was the setting for The Sound of Music.
Day 8
Today we take a short drive to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and go for a hike deep into a beautiful canyon at Partnachlam. We will also get to see the Olympic Stadium, the site of the 1936 Olympic Winter Games. Then we will make our way for Mad King Ludwig’s castle at Neuschwanstein, after which the Disney castle is patterned.
Day 9
In the morning, we will take a cogwheel train ride up to the Zugspitze and the cable ride down (the steepest in Europe). At the base of the mountain, there are hiking opportunities around the very scenic Lake Eibsee. Next, we travel into Munich to visit the concentration camp at Dachau.
Day 10
Breakfast, then it is time to fly back home from Munich !
