Italy and Greece - 10 Days
Day 1
Journey to Europe. Board your overnight flight and arrive in Rome on the following day. Your Global Travel Alliance tour guide will meet you upon arrival in Rome.
Day 2
Begin to explore the many sites in the Eternal City of Rome! Our time will be spent visiting the 2000 year-old Colosseum, the Arch of Constantine, the Arch of Titus, the ancient Roman Forum, Circus Maximus and the Mammertine Prison. Free time for shopping on the Del Corso. Visit the Piazza del Popolo and view Rome from above.
Day 3
Travel to Vatican City and visit St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museum. Be inspired
by the magnificent Sistine Chapel - home of Michelangelo’s Last Judgment and other impressive works. Also visit the Spanish Steps, the well-preserved Pantheon, and Piazza Navonna. Travel to the famous Trevi Fountain to see it at night.
Day 4
Today we will journey to the city of Pompeii in the shadow of Mt. Vesuvius. Pompeii, destroyed by an eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D., is an amazingly preserved city that will allow us to see first-hand what life was like here in the first century. Relax and enjoy spending a night in the beautiful area surrounding Sorrento. Free time for shopping.
Day 5
Free time and touring in the beautiful cliff-side town of Sorrento.
In the afternoon continue on to Brendisi to board our overnight ferry for Greece!
Day 6
Make our way to Delphi, the place the ancient Greeks believed this site to be the center of the world. See the Temple of Apollo, where elected priests would interpret the oracle’s cryptic prophecies to waiting supplicants. Visit the Delphi Museum to view artifacts dating back to 550 B.C.
Day 7
Travel to ancient Corinth to see its ancient Temple of Apollo and the remains of the Roman Agora. We will also see the believe spot where Paul addressed the Corinthians. In the afternoon travel to Mycenae where Agamemnon launched his campaign against Troy. Later in the day travel to our beach resort in Tolo or Naflio.
Days 8, 9
Travel to the ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, one of the best preserved ancient Greek theatres in the world. Make our way along the coast later to Athens!
Begin your tour of Athens - the cradle of Western Civilization. Visit the ancient Acropolis and see the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena, the Theatre of Dionysus, and tour the National Archaeological Museum.
See Hadrian’s Arch, the ruins of the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the sight where the first modern Olympic Games were held. There will also be free time for shopping in the Plaka district and the Agora marketplace.
Day 10
After 8 wonderful days, return home!
