New Zealand's Southern Alps - 11 Days

Days 1, 2
Journey to New Zealand. Board your overnight flight and arrive in Auckland two days later. Your guide will meet you at your destination.


Day 3
Transfer to Christchurch. Afternoon tour of New Zealand’s Garden City. Our tour will include the cathedral, canals, and free time for shopping in the city square.


Day 4
Morning departure for Arthur’s Pass. Cross the Southern Alps arriving at the Tasman Sea in the afternoon. Lunch and free time in Greymouth. Continue south to Hokitika. This evening we will have a chance to see glowworms in their natural habitat as we enter into a local cave.


Day 5
Morning departure for the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers. This afternoon we will take a guided tour on the Franz Josef Glacier. Our guided tour on the ice will allow us to see up close the amazing ice masses as they crawl down the mountainside. Overnight near the glaciers.


Day 6
Today we will cross back over the Southern Alps as we pass through the breath-taking Haast Pass. Stopping at scenic lakes along the way, our journey will take us along Lake Hawea and down into Wanaka. Free time along the lake surrounded by the same mountains used in Lord of the Rings.


Day 7
Morning departure for the alpine resort town of Queenstown. The town is situated next to Lake Wakatipu which provides stunning backdrops. Free time for shopping and exploring. In the evening enjoy a game of tennis or a soak in the spa.


Days 8, 9
Enjoy three adrenaline-packed days of skiing or snowboarding at the local resorts in the stunning Majestic Mountains. Optional instruction and lessons available. Two days’ lift tickets included.


Day 10
Drive through the beautiful Otago and Canterbury Plains on our way back towards Christchurch. Our scenic drive takes in Mt. Cook and the rugged Alps. Enjoy your last night in New Zealand with a guided tour and free time for shopping and exploring.


Day 11
After ten unforgettable days, depart for home from Auckland or Christchurch.
